Surface Burns

Surface Burns is a small series comprising my interests and explorations in fabrication technologies. The images have been abstracted through image scan software and then engraved into mat-board at varying depths utilizing a laser engraver. Sealed and then printed like a copper plate, this variation in depth mimics the intaglio process of controlled open-bite. A viscosity roll of brown-ocher is incorporated to set in contrast with the black engraved imagery.

Through this experimentation in technology an overlap between digital and analog processes is presented, and evidence to the abstracted potential of the body and the versatility of printmaking is highlighted.
